As mentioned in my last blog, satan’s job description is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a), and marriage is one of the many targets for which he aims.
And sadly as a result, anyone reading this has either gone through, or known someone who has gone through a divorce. Divorce can painfully impact lives at so many levels ~ emotionally, spiritually, financially and physically. And not just their own, but also the lives of family and friends in ways they often don’t even recognize. My husband and I know all to well, as we are both previously divorced, and know first hand the shock/disbelief, the angry chaos, and at times, long-lasting impact on our lives and those around us.
But God … in His Mercy, can turn that which the enemy intended for harm ~ into good!
“… And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Because we have both walked through the painful journey, (through, being the key word), and because we have discovered and received the love of God, through Jesus Christ, those wounds are healing and we are now better equipped to encourage others.
Just recently we were honored to have our church* ask us to lead a divorce support life group.** If you have been through, are going through, or contemplating divorce, consider joining our life group. Some of the topics we will cover along the road to healing are – anger, depression, loneliness, forgiveness, children, financial survival, reconciliation, among others. Recovering from divorce is a process that takes years. But, together we can move forward toward healing and a bright future.
“For I know the plans I have for you,”
says the Lord.
“They are plans for good and
not for disaster,
to give you a future and a hope.”
If you know anyone who would benefit from encouragement through this support group, and is able to commute to North Reading, MA, please ask them to contact me confidentially at email@example.com. Our first meeting will be held on Monday, March 10th.
“But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory making us conquerors through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57
